Have you ever woken up on a beautiful summer morning with no plans? The sun is SHINING, the temperature is PERFECT, and your schedule is FREE.
You decide to jump in your car and just go. All you have is freedom and all the time in the world.
There is something to be said for living out this kind of day.
Unfortunately, everyday life does not give us that same joy, adventure, and exhilaration when we set off with no direction. Now do not get me wrong, I believe we all need a little carefree living to live life to the max, but we do need to know where we are going so we do not crash and burn.
We need to know who we are, what skills we possess, what speaks to the depths of our soul, and what lights us up. This is where we can experience freedom, joy, adventure, and exhilaration as we set off towards our goals in life.
So my question to you is, "Where are you going in life?" Family, Social, Physical/Health, Professional, Mental, etc.
Do you have goals? Do you have a plan to reach those goals, or are you living your life a little too carefree wondering why you are not getting to your final destination?
The truth is, it is not easy to get from here to there without a plan, but all too often we take off as if we know exactly how to get to our final destination only to find ourselves back where we started or on some dead-end road within a short period of time. Filled with feelings of frustration, anger, resentment, hopelessness, etc.
Let's take a trip down memory lane. Do you remember back in the day having to purchase the most recent state map if you planned on traveling anywhere you were not familiar with? I sure do.
I remember as a kid my dad would study the maps to find the best route to our destination, and we would set off with a plan. Windows down crammed in the car and at some point what the map said and where the road was taking us did not line up. We would pull over, reaccess, and try again. Sometimes we got right back on track and sometimes we ended up heading the wrong direction. Then usually someone would say, "Do you think we should stop and ask for directions." 😮 Oh no, they did not just ask that. 😂
Nowadays, there is usually no planning, we just enter our destination into our phone or GPS and without any doubt, we end up at our destination. Magical, right.
It is so magical that we think all areas of life should work just like that.

Perfect! You start out towards your new destination with an unstoppable energy. You are feeling on top of the world. Until ...
You can here your GPS now, "Make a U-Turn, Make a U-Turn. Redirecting. Take the next left on Dead End Road."
I am here to tell you, when it comes to fitness and nutrition there is a better way. Too many times you are promised the end results, but they leave out what you need to do for all of the pit stops, detours, and storms in between. They treat it like a drag race instead of a Sunday drive with a beautiful view. The views and the memories are breathtaking if you choose to take a break to stretch your legs and appreciate it.
I want you to know that the problem is not that you do not know where you want to go. It is not that you lack willpower, determination, or focus.
I believe the problem falls in one of two categories.
1. You are not taking proper manageable steps to get to your destination. You know the saying, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." Well you may be trying to eat the whole elephant at once.
2. You are not willing or ready to do what it takes to get to the goal you are after. Yes, six-pack abs can be amazing, but are you willing to do what it takes to get those abs? If not, then let's find a more sustainable and enjoyable goal to achieve.
If you are looking for direction in how to take small manageable steps towards goals that are actually rewarding and low stress then let me know. We have lots of online options coming up that we would like to help you with.
